‘Secret’ hot air balloon launch replaces Bristol Balloon Fiesta

With the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta cancelled due to slot168 the pandemic, enthusiasts launched about 30 hot air balloons into the sky from a “secret” location to prevent crowds gathering.
“We’re here and nobody knows,” said Clive Bailey, one of the pilots. “It’s just brilliant isn’t it?”
It was the first mass launch as part of Fiesta Fortnight, a pandemic replacement for the usual fiesta, which will see balloons taking flight from sites across the city over the next two weeks.
The fiesta is the largest annual hot air balloon event in Europe and normally attracts more than 500,000 visitors to the country estate of Ashton Court on the edge of the city each year.
