Electrum is a popular and free storage wallet in the Bitcoin community. In fact, it is probably one of the most well-respected desktop storage apps that has been here around 2011 and is also available for mobile (however only on Android devices).
Electrum’s unique selling point is the ease of use and the simple user interface which is designed to provide a great wallet experience. You have a private key that is controlled by you and gives you access to your Bitcoin.
Electrum is one of the most popular and oldest wallet clients. The way it works is in connection to multiple servers so you can verify your payments and coin balance. It’s easy to set up and it hardly takes any space on your hard drive.
This is one of the most popular ‘thin’ wallet client which is lightweight and easy to set up. Another good thing is that you can recover your BTC using a wallet seed and instead of downloading the entire Bitcoin blockchain, you can connect securely to other servers and verify your BTC balance and process payments. This is practically the only downside of this wallet.
The wallet offers great protection and it is a favorite tool among novice traders since the user interface is very inviting and simple. This wallet will also provide you with some amazing tools and user guide if you are not familiar with how the system works. The crypto community and the traders who have actually tried this wallet before, recommend it because of its simplicity. Electrum is the perfect choice for everyone who appreciates the easiness of usage which is what this wallet is all about.
Make sure to visit their website and learn everything else there is to know about the amazing product.

Electrum is as safe, as your PC is. In a world with no malware, viruses and keyloggers, Electrum would be safe enough. But you must know, that it manages your private keys.
The advantage of hardware wallet is, that your private keys never leave the device; they are never transferred to a PC, so it’s relatively safe to use a hardware wallet even on an infected PC.
If you manage funds worth over $1000, buy a hardware wallet.

I can’t believe it. I had my wallet on my main laptop, thinking, hey, my recovery phrases were safe, and I have no malware, I should be OK. I guess not. I paid for this naivetey. I saw a transaction in my wallet dated a week ago that emptied it out all in one shot.
And I was going to buy a hardware wallet in 2 weeks, too.
Play it safe guys, it’s not worth the risk.

DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!! I downloaded this so i could use BTC from my hardware wallet. Sounded easy enough until it was time to purchase. The item i wanted cost me .003669 BTC. i needed a wallet that accepts the wallet URL’s and not the wallet address. Electrum was the wallet i chose to bridge that gap. Good idea, but unfortunately, the cost to purchase the item SKYROCKETED to 3.669 BTC!! WTF?!?!?! That’s an additional 3.665331 BTC!!! Can you say RIP OFF?!?! If BTC is valued at $6800+ today, how the hell are the fees for this wallet transaction in excess of $20,400+ value. PLEASE!!!! DON’T use this wallet. DON’T submit to these fees! The market’s getting wider and someone SMART will fill this void. Uninstall these CRIMINALS before they think this is how business gets done!!

Wonderful app. Would be nice to have possibility of manual fee (for KiB, not byte) and a testnet version for Android. The Python version I use on Linux is simply without comparison. Thank you!

It wont open.. just stays on the black screen with electrum logo but the app doesnt open. Will you fix this?

It just kept asking for more and more words for the seed phrase and the next button never lit up or worked.

ll these reviews complaining about the lack of recovery features makes me laugh. THIS is how a wallet should be. All so-called defacto standards are just layers, in the lowest layer, it has always been public keys and private keys. Except for multisig wallets, they are good.

Electrum has been around for a very long time , and there is a very good reason . They’re the staple of what a wallet should be . Secure as all hell . Manageable . User friendly . GUI is easy even for NOOBS. Many guides. Available online for said NOOBS . And also lets you choose your miners fee when sending transactions . If you need it there fast . Of if your not in a rush . Lower the miner fee . I love that feature

I downloaded the app, it works fine but sometimes it freezes and then blocks my entire phone. Speaking of the wallet itself, i really find it useful and safe

The wallet is great! I don’t understand why people talk trash about it on purpose. Face it, it’s better than anyone out there and I don’t understand why you are not okay with that fact

The Electrum wallet does what it claims to do. Its a great little device that removes a lot of the risk of holding Bitcoins whilst completing transactions online.

Electrum is great for safely storing the keys to your bitcoins. Even if your computer is infected with 1000s of viruses or Trojans, you can be sure that they can never intercept or steal your bitcoins. The wallet creation process was easy enough and I even experimented with some of the more advanced features. I am loving the design also!

I’m new to Electrum and Bitcoin. Electrum seems to me to be the “Roach Motel” of Bitcoin, money goes in but it can’t go out. Get this stupid long error code with “not enough inputs” Fortunately I don’t have that much money in the wallet, $110. But still I don’t see how Bitcoin will ever become a widely used medium of exchange if it is so technically hard to transact business with it. One other thing – I completely maxed out the transaction fee, still doesn’t work. Guess I’ll send the money using Western Union. Pretty old school but at least it works.

I use it on UNIX and on ANROID, it is fast, reliable, the 12 words phrase is amazing, the servers are distributed worldwide, I built it myself by compiling the client.

One star is too much for this wallet. It does not do the job it supposes to. A wallet should keep your money in one place and should not be constanly unavailable

Past performance is not an indication of future results. HODL is not investment advice, and your capital is at risk as cryptocurrencies can fluctuate widely in price and are, therefore, not appropriate for all investors but those who have been able to find a good system of trade devoid of emotions which can ruin you financially.
I do believe that cryptos will change the world, replacing stock markets, most currencies and powering everything from machine-to-machine payments and the Internet of Things through to streaming media, prediction markets, governance systems, voting systems, even potentially the internet. That being said, there is a long way to go, and we are in the very early stages for most of these areas which may or may not turn out to be what we expect from the markets because growth in value is mostly speculative. That been said, I would love to attribute accolades to a very sophisticated trader and investor, Mr. Wesley Wills, a man I believe in his capacity is a name worth mention amongst traders. I do trade his signals, and his analysis and understandings of the markets are awesome. With his guidance, I have made over $200,000 trading bitcoins in the last three months

‘ve ve been using Electrum for a while.
Two things…
(1) you don’t have to wait for transactions to confirm in order to spend those UTXOs
(2) transactions always show up right away for me after I broadcast them. The server you’re connected to might be lagging…try connecting to a different one.
Cheers.
